What dental implants cost in Crozet — and why.
Implant pricing confuses people because “an implant” is not one thing — it is a post, a connector, and a tooth, sometimes with bone work first, multiplied by however many teeth are involved. Anyone quoting a single number without seeing your mouth is guessing, and you deserve better than a guess.
So here is the honest version: what moves the number, what typically doesn't, and how you get a real figure — in writing, at the consult, before you commit to anything.
The four things that move the number
First, the count: one post and crown versus several versus a full arch. Second, the site: a jaw that needs bone support before placement adds a step. Third, what goes on top: a single crown, a bridge, a snap-in denture, or a fixed arch each carry different lab work. Fourth, whether a surgical specialist is needed for placement — some cases are, and we tell you at the consult, not after.
What generally doesn't move the number: asking more questions. The consult exists so you understand exactly what you are paying for line by line. Bring every question you have.

Insurance, and what if you have none
Dental insurance often contributes to the restoration — the crown, bridge, or denture — even when it excludes the post itself. Easiest check: send us a photo of your card and we'll tell you what your plan actually does before your first visit.
No insurance? Our Virginia Dental Club membership and financing through the insurance and financing page keep the path open. The point of this page is simple: cost should be a known number you plan around, not a mystery that keeps you from asking.
Why we don't print prices on this page
Because a printed number is either padded to be safe or wrong to be attractive. Your figure depends on your mouth, and it is delivered in writing at the consult, itemized, before anything is scheduled. That figure holds unless the plan changes — and if the plan changes, you approve it first.
Questions we hear in the chair
- Can I use an HSA or FSA for implants?
- Yes — implants are qualified medical expenses for HSA and FSA purposes. Bring your plan details to the consult and the front desk will sort out what can be paid with pre-tax dollars before treatment starts.
- Why do implant quotes vary so much between offices?
- Because a quote may or may not include the parts around the implant: the extraction, any grafting, the abutment, the crown, the imaging. Compare whole treatments, not headline numbers — and ask any office to list exactly what their figure includes. Here, every component is priced before you start.
- Is a dental implant worth it compared to a bridge?
- A bridge is faster and costs less up front, but it borrows support from the neighboring teeth and typically gets replaced every ten to fifteen years. An implant stands alone and, at the post level, can last decades. Over twenty years the math often favors the implant — the consult puts both options side by side for your case.
- Does insurance ever cover implants?
- Plans vary widely. Many contribute to the crown or denture portion; some newer plans contribute to the post as well. We check your specific plan before your visit so the consult numbers already reflect it.
- Do you offer payment plans?
- Yes — financing options and the Virginia Dental Club are both explained on our insurance and financing page, and the front desk walks you through them with real numbers, not fine print.
- Why do quotes from different offices vary so much?
- Usually because they include different things. One quote may cover only the post; another includes the connector, crown, and follow-ups. Ours is itemized so you can compare like with like — bring another office's quote if you have one, and we'll translate it.
