Work where the group began.
The questions a good candidate actually has: Will I have clinical autonomy? Who owns this place, and what happens when they sell? Is there mentorship or just a production quota? Fair questions. Here are direct answers.
This is the founding office of Willis & Associates — doctor-owned, started here in 2012 by a dentist who still practices. Clinical decisions belong to clinicians, nobody carries a sales quota, and the ownership question has a name attached rather than a fund.
For doctors
A doctor-owned group founded by a dentist who still does smile cases is the counter-offer to every private-equity group in the state. Associates here get named mentorship, modern equipment as standard — the iTero Lumina is in this office, not on a someday list — and a real path forward in a group that promotes from its own ranks.
The specific numbers a candidate privately wants — compensation architecture, mentorship structure, partnership path — are conversation material, and we'd rather have that conversation than publish a brochure version. Reach out; ask any doctor who joined recently what the answers were.
For hygienists, assistants, and front desk

A 13-operatory practice with full-time doctors is the busy-but-staffed version of dental work: enough colleagues that lunch happens, enough patients that days move, and a fifty-year local reputation that makes the phone pleasant to answer.
If the practice you're in treats support staff as interchangeable, note that ours has patients who ask for their hygienist by name — continuity is policy here, for staff exactly as for patients.
Questions we hear in the chair
- How do I apply?
- Call 434-823-4080 and ask for the practice manager, or send your background through the contact page. Every serious inquiry gets a human reply.
- Is this a corporate chain?
- No — Willis & Associates is Virginia's largest doctor-owned dental group, and this office is where it started. Doctor-owned changes daily work exactly the way you'd hope: clinical judgment outranks spreadsheets.
- Do you hire new graduates?
- A group built on mentorship is built for them — named mentors, real case support, and colleagues in the building every day. New grads should absolutely reach out.
Serving Crozet for 50+ years. At least two full-time doctors in the building, Monday through Friday.
